From the beginning, it was just a platonic relationship. However, after 2 years in the same enclosure, giant pandas Chuang Chuang and Lin Hui have started mating. It raises hopes, that they could have a baby in the coming months. On Sunday, the pandas started the mating dance. It took place at the Chiang Mai Zoo in northern Thailand. From that time, the pair began sniffing one another on Tuesday and mated later in the day. ‘We are so happy because maybe we'll have a baby panda soon,’ a head of public relations for the Chiang Mai Zoo, Rossukhon Chuicomwong, said. The Thai press was filled with photos of the black and white bears mating. Hundreds of visitors gathered at the zoo to watch the ritual. Officials expect, It’ll continue for 2 or 3 days. Thailand rented Chuang Chuang and Lin Hui for 10 years from China for US$250,000 in October 2003. They are expected to bring millions of dollars in future.
