Thai Airways International declaimed on Wednesday, that net profit fell 33% in the October-December quarter. It’s the result of high oil prices, having taken a big bite out of operating expenses. The national carrier told that net profit in the 1 quarter of the financial year came in at 3.81 billion baht, down from 5.72 billion bath during the same period of the last year. The company got 45.88 billion baht in total revenue, up 6.5% from the last year. It boosted by rising flights to Europe and Australia and new routes to Moscow and Islamabad. However, the sales increase, failed to offset a jump in expenses. Operating expenses made up 40.59 billion baht, up 10.3% from the same period in 2005. Thai Airways told, that fuel expenses during the 1 quarter jumped 29.3% to 3.29 billion baht from the same period in financial year 2005.
