50,000 people oppose against Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra in a Bangkok rally on Sunday. There was many pledging to continue protests until he resigns. Protesters walked from the front of Bangkok's Grand Palace to the Government House. Thaksin's office is located there. However, the prime minister missed the action. He was campaigning in the countryside, his traditional stronghold. The protesters hoped to accumulate the same number for a Monday rally. Thaksin has been accused of corruption and abuse of power. He sold his family's telecommunications firm in Singapore for $1.9 billion and paid no taxes. The Thaksin Shinawatra has also been accused of bending government policy to profit his family's business. Last year Thaksin was re-elected to a second term. His opponent Thai Rak Thai won 377 of the 500 seats in the House of Representatives.
