Thaksin Shinawatra, the Thai Prime Minister, has returned to the capital. It happened after a campaign tour, between growing calls for talks to end a political crisis and with next month's election increasingly in doubt. Thaksin moved his meetings to the foreign ministry to shun protesters, who are supporting a 24-hour vigil outside his office. It was happened to demand he step down over claims of corruption and abuse of power. He also eluded reporters. He considered ways out of the dead end after rare public remarks by the king's chief adviser, who pleaded for a speedy end to the crisis. ‘I urge all parties to quickly resolve the current political conflict for the sake of national peace,’ said a respected former prime minister, Prem Tinsulanonda. King Bhumibol Adulyadej holds restricted legal powers in Thailand. However, he remains a highly popular and influential figure, whose opinions hold massive sway over the public.
