Visitors to the Bangkok Motor Show were undeterred by weekend remonstrances in the city. Car buyers were much more worried by fuel costs, than by political clashes. The Bangkok Post reported on Monday, that whereas protests calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra angered in the streets, it was business as usual at the car show at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center. Waraporn Kanjanachumaburop, the construction contractor, who was shopping for a car, declaimed the two months of rallies against the prime minister had not affected her business. ’The fuel consumption rate is my priority concern. I prefer a vehicle with lower consumption to the latest model or a splendid design,’ she told. The show will continue till next Sunday. The same day electors will decide whether or not Thaksin will remain in his post.
