Torrential monsoon rains have created havoc across Thailand's south. It kills 12 people, leaving two missing and seven of the victims died in two mudslides. Hundreds of train passengers heading to the country's Muslim southern provinces were stranded in Hat Yai (a rubber trading center and a tourist popular spot). It happens because tracks and highways were under water. The Meteorological Department declaimed that the torrential rains were expected to continue at least into early January. This season, the northeast monsoon regularly brings rains to Thailand's southeastern coast. However, unusual high-pressure winds this year were bringing non-stop rains to the region. The continuing rains could bring more loss of life, the officials say. The other victims died from drowning.
